For use with the Total Dietary Fibre Assay Kit. Contains barley?-glucan, high amylose maize starch, wheat starch, casein, pectin andlarch galactan. Wheat arabinoxylan is available on request.

Total Dietary Fibre Controls:

1. β-Glucan (barley); 1 gram; TDF 99.9 %.

2. High Amylose Maize Starch (native);

10 grams; TDF 29.3 %.

3. Wheat Starch; 10 grams; TDF 0 %.

4. Casein; 5 grams; TDF 0 %.

5. Pectin; 1 gram; TDF 86.5 %

6. Larch Galactan; 1 gram; TDF 83.5 %.

NOTE:

AOAC Procedure 985.29 states that for pectin and larch galactan, the

recovery of TDF is 100 %. This relates to the fact that the recovery

of these polysaccharides in the standard TDF assay (i.e. with enzymes)

is exactly the same as that obtained in the assay when enzymes are

not included. The actual recoveries of these two polysaccharides

are as shown above. The less than 100 % recovery is not due to

contaminating enzyme activities in the α-amylase, amyloglucosidase or

protease used in the assay procedure, but simply due to losses in the

precipitation and recovery steps.
